COULD YOU BRIEFLY DESCRIBE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THREE PROGRAMMES OFFEREB BY SWASWARA?

Swaswara is offering three types of treatment programmes: The Swa Well Being Programme (min. stay 3 days) is holiday programme, during which we are lightly introducing ayurveda, yoga, healthy activities and food. The Rejuvenation Programme (min. stay 7 days) addresses health issues arising from the rigours of modern lifestyle and The Detox & Panchakarma Programme (min. stay 14 days) offers highly personalized and individualized treatment and diet.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO COME FOR A TREATMENT?

"Whenever your body and mind is weak, you need some treatments to strengthen the body." That's what in India we are usually recommending the monsoon period as the best time to take a treatment, but it is very individual and depend on health condition of the patients. Also what is natural for Indians can be different for foreigners and heavy monsoon rains can disturb them. Coming into doshic level, in the winter time, the Kapha related problems increases and to avoid or prevent such issues early winter is good. Similarly, Pitta aggravates during summer so before summer or during summer is good to prevent Pitta related issues. It comes under the seasonal regimen. When coming to diseased there is no particular time is indicated it depends on the stages of diseases, always early stage of the disease is best time for cure.  For purification of the toxins from the body Panchakarma treatment is best.

THE MOST OF YOUR PATIENCES ARE LADIES. DO YOU HAVE ANY RECOMENDATION FOR THEM?

Yes, almost 80% of our guests are ladies, but it is changing slowly, last year the ratio was 60% ladies and 40% men. The most of the ladies are having gynaecologic or menopause related problems most of the diseases are related with unhealthy life style so try to find the mistakes and correct it. Also there are the restrictions on treatments that can be availed by female guests who are menstruating. Menstruation is a natural detox procedure that is why it should not be disturbed.

ABOUT EACH PROGRAMME WE WILL SPEAK SEPARATELLY, BUT WHAT IS INCLUDED IN ALL OF THEM?

Each programme include with detailed consultation before planning the treatment, it helps us, if we get some information about the patients and their health conditions in advance. Especially, if they have serious health problems, we ask them to send reports from their doctors. After arrival the patient is interviewed by our doctors. We have prepared quite a long and detail questioner about patient’s daily routine, habits, health history and conditions. After evaluation of the questioner the doctors prepare diet, treatment and yoga programme. There will be daily consultation before and after every treatment and two therapists are allocated for each patient. There is a rule that ladies get female therapists and gentlemen get men therapists.

All rates are inclusive of accommodation, consultations, treatments, massages, oils, herbs, yoga, meditation and meals during entire stay. During their stay, guests are encouraged to use the in-house art and pottery studio and take part in the interactive cooking sessions too to learn Ayurveda cooking. Due to the intense and curative nature of this programme, all physical and outdoor activities including yoga are subject to the Ayurveda doctor’s advice and approval only. The price includes also pick up and drop from Goa airport (the distance between Goa’s Dabolim airport and SwaSwara is 170 km, a drive of approximately 3,5 to 4 hours).

Panchakarma is an intensive cleansing treatment that follows the early texts of ayurveda like Charaka Samhita. Panchakarma, which literally means five actions, is essentially about purification of the body. The five actions of Panchakarma according to Charaka Samhitha are Vamana (induced vomiting), Virechana (purgation), Kashaya Vasti and Sneha Vasti (two kinds of medicated enemas) and Nasya (nasal medication). It is preceded by a preparatory process called Poorvakarma. At this stage the body is prepared for removing “toxins” first through Deepana pachana  which make the digestive system proper and Snehanam which make the body unctuous or oily internally and externally, and  third through Swedanam which means therapeutic sweating. Once the preparatory stage is completed, the doctor will prescribe one or more of the five Panchakarma cleansing procedures depending on each individual’s condition. The third and final stage of treatment is Samana or Paschatkarma where the patient undergoes corrective measures through medicines, moderate therapeutic treatments, appropriate diet and activities for the body and mind. On completion of the Panchakarma treatment, the imbalances that lead to diseases in the individual is stabilized and brought to equilibrium.

Ayurveda has many definitions as medical science. But the main idea of Ayurveda, not treating the diseases. We should see and take it as a part of our life and self-exploration. For me ayurveda means everything.
